Jackie Woods

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Jackie is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist in the states of Connecticut and New York. She loves working with families because of their dynamic spirit and openness to a relational approach. Her approach to treatment is holistic, as she tailors her practice according to the wants and needs of each client. Jackie works on the foundation that individuals have the answers within themselves, and together she can help you extract solutions. She encourages you to accept your thoughts and feelings without judgment, and will challenge you to take a hard look at what you can and can't control. She hopes she can support you to be more present with yourself and your environment.

Jackie received her Bachelor's in Psychology from Penn State University, and her Master's in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. She has had extensive training in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) techniques, offering clients skills needed to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into their wellness journey. She is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), and regularly integrates these teachings into her work with clients as well. Jackie is currently enrolled in an advanced training to become a Registered Play Therapist (http://www.a4pt.org/), giving her additional tools to apply the therapeutic power of play to communicate with and treat clients, particularly children. She also has comprehensive training both professionally, and personally, with the adversity and joys of navigating parenthood. This is an area of specialty, and she is consistently amazed by the fortitude and resilience of her clients needing family support.

Before becoming an LMFT, Jackie was a dedicated Division I athlete, and went on to coach at this level. She is personally familiar with the high expectations and competitive culture that our children and adolescents face during their most formative years. Jackie's favorite vacation spot is Big Sur, California where she loves to practice her photography hobby, she loves to cook, camp, ski, travel, and most importantly treasures time spent with her husband and children.

NOTE: Jackie offers in-home therapy for those clients in need of support that goes beyond talk therapy in the office. Whether you are a new mom, resistant teen, or struggling with anxiety, Jackie can be available to come to your place of comfort. Please discuss fees with either Tami, the office manager, or Jackie directly.
